Vernon Gong, a principal of Saiful Bouquet, led the design for the Renovation and Seismic Retrofit of the Sports/Events Center while at a prior firm. The $121 Million project included the Renovation and Seismic Retrofit of the 21.000 seat indoor arena. It also included the demolition of a majority of the existing arena and construction of a new seating bowl. (Formerly “The Oakland/Alameda County Coliseum Arena”)
The facility hosts a spectrum of events in both the sporting and entertainment industries including concerts, circus, boxing, rodeos, religious speakers and ice shows. Also features 90 luxury suites, two private clubs and two state-of-the-art scoreboards.
