Saiful Bouquet provided full structural design services for a pair of four-story office buildings at Sony’s Culver City Lot. The two buildings were framed with structural steel frames over spread footing foundations. Structural seismic systems included Eccentrically Braced Frames (EBFs) in the transverse direction and Special Moment Frames in the longitudinal direction, over spread footing foundations.
The buildings, designed in an art deco style, have set back balconies and large atriums, and the larger building tapers in plan to a glass rotunda.
The project was certified LEED Gold.
