As the structural engineer, Saiful Bouquet is honored to have played a key role in this 80,000 SF, 4-story energy and sustainability research hub— the greenest building on Caltech’s campus, poised to be a beacon of sustainable innovation in California.

This is Southern California’s first hybrid concrete–mass timber vibration-sensitive research lab construction! Saiful Bouquet used concrete structure for the state-of-the-art lab area supporting cutting edge research with strict vibration limits (2,000 mips) and used mass timber framing for external circulation area and for support of the unique glass façade, blending visual warmth with sustainable design.
