Saiful Bouquet has been commissioned to provide full structural engineering services to support the rejuvenation efforts of the iconic Beverly Hills High School campus. The original campus buildings have remained untouched and will be upgraded as 21st-century learning environments. As a major portion of the renovations will be to preserve many of the original 1920s buildings as well as later structures totaling an estimated 380,000 sq. ft., the structures are required to be seismically upgraded for compliance with “current code.” State-of-the-art techniques are being incorporated into the design of seismic upgrade solutions.
The renovation will also feature three revamped campus theaters and a gallery/welcome center and will update the entire athletic complex with new track and field, football/soccer fields, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and a fitness center. As several buildings will need to remain operational and occupied during the seismic upgrade construction, Saiful Bouquet is working closely with the design and construction team and DSA to create a multi-phased construction process that minimizes campus disruption and temporary housing and maintains occupant safety.
