As structural engineer for the Design-Build team, Saiful/Bouquet provided the structural engineering for the new 17,200 sq. ft. library building that serves the City of Coachella. The new library building replaces the original library with a flagship facility that doubles as meeting venues for City government functions as well as community events and houses a café.
This new public library has become a catalyst for completely revitalizing downtown Coachella. The single-story, wood and steel frame structure employs long span roof framing and clear-story window elevations with high volume interiors. There was special attention to detail to creatively disguise the structural systems within the mission style architecture that employed conventional plywood shear walls and steel framing.
