Saiful Bouquet provided full structural engineering design service the new student housing complex at the CSU Dominguez Hills campus. The 132,000 sq. ft. project includes a Commons building and 500-bed dormitory style Housing complex. The 1-story Commons building feature a multi-purpose room, common areas, offices, mail room, kitchen and a store.
The new residence hall is the university’s first student housing project in decades and will radically improve student experience by allowing for fully integrated campus living. Both buildings are light-wood frame construction with steel framing. The housing complex is an L-shape with 5 stories in the North-South direction and 4-stories in the East-West direction The North-South leg of the Housing building is Type IIIA construction while the east-west leg of is Type VA Construction. The Commons building has a sloped roof, and is comprised of sloped and flat segments at different heights with clerestory windows. The sloped roof will rise up to 20 ft height and the flat roof is approximately 13 ft. high.
