Saiful Bouquet provided structural engineering services for the new $20 million South Region Elementary School #10 located in Canoga Park, California. This 54,000 sqf school is comprised of 3 buildings, a new 2-story classroom building including approximately 26 new classrooms and a library, a one-story auditorium, multi-purpose room, food service area and lunch shelter, and a 2 story administrative office building.
A bridge interconnects the classrooms and the administration building. Aggressive sustainable design goals have achieved High Performance Incentive (CHPS HPI) status, and meet Savings by Design criteria. The small site dictates a tight, efficient floor plan, providing the full spectrum of services for an elementary school curriculum.
The structural system for the new school consists of steel frame with Eccentrically Braced Frames for lateral force resisting system.
