LA County Department of Mental Health

Saiful Bouquet provided structural engineering services for the new LA County Department of Mental Health Headquarters Development, a 400,000 sq. ft. office building for the Department of Mental Health. The project is in construction and is a Public Private Partnership (P3) project for the County of Los Angeles.

The project consists of 18 levels of office above 5 levels of above grade parking with retail on the ground floor and one level of below grade parking. Several structural schemes were investigated at the design competition stage which included an all concrete structure option as well as an hybrid structure with concrete up to podium level and steel above the podium. Based on cost and schedule consideration, the hybrid scheme was selected.

There is fairly extensive landscaping at the podium level where the building transitions from office to parking below.
