Saiful Bouquet provided structural services for the new 2-story 6,500 sq. ft. fire station consisting of 2 apparatus bays, the station office, living quarters, dormitory area, and paramedic facilities. Construction materials include CMU bearing walls, steel bi-fold apparatus room doors, and storefront window system. The structural system included CMU walls with light frame (Type V) construction.
The property was an odd triangle of land on Beach Boulevard which mandated that the site be carved out of the Coyote Hills. The new station is owned by the City of La Habra, but it’s located in La Mirada. The station responds to a growing annual volume of 3,600 emergency calls for the City of La Habra, and 3,000 emergency calls for the City of La Mirada. The project was built to state-of-the-art amenities and achieved LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The new Fire Station No. 194 opened on March 23, 2010.
