The Westfield University Town Center is a redevelopment and revitalization of an existing open-air super-regional shopping center, which would permit a maximum of 1.8 Million square-foot retail and approximately 800 residential units. Saiful Bouquet is the structural engineer of record for the UTC redevelopment project.
The main theme of this redevelopment is “retail as resort”, a concept of introducing resort style amenities into the shopping experience. Part of the goal of the project is to incorporate a major community and regional transit center and allow for future high capacity transit rail line. A green program has been commissioned to incorporate sustainability into the design, construction and operations of this expansion project. As part of the expansion, four new parking structures totaling 7,200 cars will be built.
